Harvest Report 2022

Written by Wade Metzer on .

We are extremely happy with the quality of the 2022 harvest and if post malolactic tasting samples are anything to go by, we can expect some rocking wines. But we couldn't do what we do, without the help of a great team.

Wine-making, like heavy-metal music, is a collective effort. Sure, you need drums, a couple of guitars and a frontman with a decent schtick but that’s just the bare minimum. Great songs are a wicked brew of influences and inputs and wine is no different. Decisions that influence the aesthetic of a wine – harvest dates, fermentation temperatures, extraction times and the choice of oak – may be taken by a single person, but dozens of people play a part in a wine’s progress from grape to glass. We also tend to forget that the genesis of a wine starts some 8 months before any grapes have even been picked. Through the growing season, a multitude of hands moves the grape a step closer to bottle with every vineyard action.

We couldn't be more grateful and proud of our "band members" which draws together a broad set of skills. Wine is a living-breathing product only made possible through the efforts of the collective. In the words of Ozzy Osbourne... Rock On!!!
