Our wines are unmistakably South African, they speak with a South African voice and couldn't be made anywhere else on the planet.
Provenance: The place and time of origin of some object. In wine terms, the power of vineyards to express a sense of "somewhere-ness" in the final product
Our modern consumer economy has spawned a plethora of products which come from anywhere and end up everywhere. Wine on the other hand is inextricably linked to a specific region, its most irresistible quality being an ability to express individuality; the intangible quality we often call terrroir. In addition to this, we know who made a particular wine and how, in what place and at what time. Wine somehow manages to capture and weave these elements together to reveal a product which transcends personal style or aesthetic and reinforces the notion that wine can be both a beverage and a place.
To this end, we seek out mature dry-land parcels of vineyard, we utilise neutral oak barrels, employ careful, "unplugged" winemaking techniques and strive to make wine from grapes and nothing else... no commercial yeast, no enzymes, minimal sulphur and no fining.
